A community is a social unit with a commonality such as norms, religion, values, customs, or identity. Communities may share a sense of place situated in a given geographical area or in virtual space through communication platforms. Community development seeks to empower individuals or a group of people through skill development to make them self-sufficient. Communities may have a common ideology or goal in order to create a change or development in society. A community is constantly evolving as employees come and go, influenced by their individual perspectives, insight, and experience.

For instance, in a community there are three families, family A knows farming, while family B knows to manage the crops produced and secure them and family C can sell the harvested crops. Now all three families can collectively work together as a community to help each other. Members of the community are interlinked in a chain to support each other and empower as a unit.

Ways of Building a Community- AN ORGANIC RELATIONSHIP

A community involves members from diverse backgrounds, age groups, and having different social beliefs. Repeated interaction and discussions speak about what an individual is headed to. Interaction not only defines the members of the community but also increases engagement in a community. Interaction should not only be about the business and growth of a community or a group. It should be more about personal experiences and beliefs which will definitely create a bond between members.

EXPERIMENTATION-

Large Communities can be subdivided into smaller groups. The hustle for the perfect group should never stop in a community. Some may be highly skilled and some with exceptional managing abilities, while some with great networking. It is important to recognize the traits and special capabilities of each individual. What’s more important is finding the perfect match. Communities should be subdivided into smaller groups with focused aim and short term goals. Whereas, all the groups collectively are integrated to achieve the idea behind community development (long term goals).

INCENTIVE PRIZES

The use of cash or resources to motivate innovators to address a particular problem, usually, one where the best solution or approach is known. It can also be used to draw public attention to an important issue facing humanity. The price reflects a clear message, yet powerful, story about a challenge that needs to be addressed. Community building interventions and approaches cross organizational boundaries in addressing community issues. Imagine a competition to help change outcomes for people experiencing homelessness where teams compete against each other to create a solution for improvement in people’s access to housing.

CIVIC RESPONSIBILITY

Promoting the civic responsibility of residents in all aspects of community and neighboring life. Encourage individuals and groups to freely express their views and work collaboratively. Resulting, more individuals choose to exercise and fulfill their civic and community responsibilities.

FOCUS ON RESULTS

Encourage a system which gathers, analyzes, tracks, and share information that will allow all to build upon their experiences. Allowing determined people with work independence and giving them the resources required to conduct experiments. People will understand that the results of community building will be short term, intermediate, and long term in their nature.

At Mitti Ke Rang, we started with a COVID-19 community support fundraising, as an emergency response to provide a safety net to families. This will help them survive in the lockdown period. We aim to directly support these families by providing a minimum wage, through transferring the same into their accounts or partner with local NGO, Organisation, Fellow,r a Volunteer and support them with groceries.
