Science week embosoms science-related events that are held in specific countries during a designated week every year. These events aim to engage different generations in science and technology and inspire them to create something astounding. Australia, India, Ireland, United Kingdom, United States, South Africa, China, Canada are some countries that organize Science Week every year.
However, the 10th of November is proclaimed as World Science Day focusing on the significance and relevance of science on the day to day activities. The theme of World Science Day 2020 in “Science for and with Society” signifies dealing with the global pandemic. UNESCO will organize a virtual roundtable on the particular theme on this day.
In India, Science Week is ended with National Science Day on 28th February, to commemorate the discovery of Raman Effect by Sir Chandrasekhara Venkata Raman for which he was awarded the Nobel Prize in 1930. “Women in Science” was the theme of 2020 to draw public attention to the scientific issues involved. The educational institution celebrates this event via demonstration of innovative and distinctive science models as well as exhibiting their latest researches.
Australia organizes Science week in August every year welcoming over 1000 events providing an opportunity for all Australians to explore different sectors of science and encourage the young mind to create innovations.
Ireland organizes the event every November which is an initiative by Science Foundation Ireland engaging the population with workshops, science shows, talks, laboratory demonstrations, and much more.
